Is the crouching lion hike closed?
Unfortunately, yes. Officially, the hike has been closed.
Crouching Lion hike is an exciting traverse through luscious Hawaiian jungle & a quick ascent offering untouched views of the wild east side of Oahu.
Located in Kaaawa on the east side of Oahu, the hike is right past Kualoa Ranch & overlooks the scenic & photogenic Kahana Bay.
If you want a quick hike with thick jungle that still lends itself to beautiful teal waters, this hike is perfect for you.
Due to the mud, it’s not ideal after its been rainy & because of its exposed location, definitely avoid hiking when the wind is heavy.
|Best time:||No wind, never after its rainy…|
This hike is located literally right off of Kamehameha Hwy. There’s pretty much one way there & one way out.
Parking is free and is available on the coastal side of the highway.
There is generally parking on the weekdays or in the low season.
Cars speed through Kamehameha Hwy so be especially careful while pulling on & getting back on the highway. When in doubt, wait a few minutes for it to clear up.
None. Pack it in, pack it out. Bring lots of water.

Cautions & Hazards
You can never really rely on the weather report. It’s best to ask some locals if its been raining a lot recently or if the trail is muddy if you can.
If it does rain, it usually only lasts for a few minutes here.
